Ilia Calderón Scholarship for the One Young World Summit 2025 (Fully Funded – Munich, Germany)

Applications are now open for the Ilia Calderón Scholarship to attend the One Young World Summit 2025. Following the remarkable success of the scholarship in 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024, One Young World has once again collaborated with the Jang Calderón Family Foundation to support promising young Afro-descendant leaders. This initiative is specifically designed for dynamic individuals aged 18 to 30 from Latin America and the Caribbean who are leading innovative and impactful projects within their communities.

The Ilia Calderón Scholarship will select two exceptional Afro-descendant leaders to receive full funding for their travel and participation in the One Young World Summit 2025 in Munich, Germany. The scholarship covers comprehensive costs, including:

  • Full access to the One Young World Summit 2025 in Munich.
  • Private hotel accommodation from November 2 to 6, 2025.
  • Round-trip travel expenses to and from Munich (economy class).
  • Domestic transportation costs to reach the airport for the international flight (economy class).
  • Visa fees, if required.
  • Transportation between the hotel and the Summit venue.
  • Catering, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner provided by the hotel and during the Summit.
  • Translation services from English to Spanish during plenary sessions and at the welcome and closing events.

Eligibility Requirements:

Candidates must be between the ages of 18 and 30 at the time of the Summit, which will take place in Munich from November 3 to 6, 2025. Eligible nationalities include, but are not limited to, students from Colombia, Venezuela, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Panama, Honduras, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, Nicaragua, Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Cuba, Dominica, Guyana, Grenada, Jamaica, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, and Brazil.

Applicants will also be evaluated based on:

  • Their commitment to and potential benefits for the communities or territories they belong to.
  • The relevance and impact of the initiatives they lead or participate in.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
  • Their ability to address key local and/or global challenges.
  • A proven track record of generating innovative and impactful ideas.
  • Their motivation to actively participate in the One Young World Summit.
