Elisabeth & Amélie Fund Grant 2025: Up to €5,000 for International Masters Students in Belgium

Applications are now open for the 2025 Elisabeth & Amélie Fund Grant. This fund focuses on supporting sustainable water management projects in developing nations, particularly by financing internships for students from these countries who are currently pursuing studies in Belgium.

The fund promotes a comprehensive approach to water management, considering both technical and sociological aspects. The internship, which can take place either in the student’s home country or another developing country, must be related to the student’s master’s thesis or equivalent project. The internship will be overseen by the academic institution in Belgium where the student is enrolled.

Benefits:

The grant covers costs related to the internship, up to €5,000. Internships should last between 1 and 2 months and must occur between January and August 2025. Approximately ten grants will be awarded.

Eligibility:

This opportunity is open to students from developing countries who are pursuing a master’s degree (master’s, specialized master’s, or a second bachelor’s degree). Their thesis or final project must focus on water management in developing countries.

Selection Criteria:

  • Objective: The internship should focus on water access or management in developing countries and be closely connected to the student’s thesis.
  • Relevance: The candidate’s work should address critical local issues through their project.
  • Capabilities: The requested budget must align with the candidate’s financial needs and resources for completing the internship.
  • Originality: The student’s approach or the internship framework should display an innovative perspective, differing from conventional methods.
  • Impact: The internship should bring tangible value to the research supporting the student’s final project.
