Aspiring neuroscientists now have a valuable opportunity to access global training resources through the IBRO Neuroscience Training Grants. These grants are tailored to support early-career researchers from all regions of the world who are pursuing structured, skills-based neuroscience training courses.
By funding course-related expenses such as registration, travel, and living accommodations, IBRO helps level the playing field for scientists from resource-constrained environments. The initiative promotes broader participation in neuroscience and reinforces IBRO’s commitment to diversity and inclusion in scientific advancement.
Eligibility:
- PhD students and postdocs (up to 5 years into postdoctoral research)
- Courses must take place between July 1 – December 31, 2025
- This grant does not cover conferences or lab exchanges — see IBRO Travel or Exchange Fellowship programs instead
- Courses at IBRO-supported schools are not eligible for this grant
Application Essentials:

- Full course description and justification
- Personal impact statement
- Budget request (itemizing expenses and co-funding if applicable)
- Reference letter from supervisor and/or other academic mentor
Grant Amounts by Region:
- Africa: up to $5,000
- Asia-Pacific: up to $3,000
- Latin America: up to $6,000
- Europe: up to $4,500
- North America: up to $4,000
When to Apply for the Next Round?
Applications for the next round are open from October 1 – November 15, 2025, for courses held in the first half of 2026.
How the Funds Are Paid:
- 80% upfront after acceptance confirmation
- 20% upon course completion, verified with certificates and reports
