University of Pavia CICOPS Visiting Scholar Scholarships 2026

The University of Pavia and the Institute for the Right to University Studies (EDISU) are now accepting applications for the 2026 CICOPS Scholarships. These scholarships aim to strengthen academic collaboration with scholars from developing countries by supporting short-term research stays of between 4 and 12 weeks at the University of Pavia.

The program is designed to encourage academic exchange and mobility, particularly in fields related to development, by supporting joint research initiatives with faculty members from the university.

What the Scholarship Includes
Recipients will receive support for round-trip travel (economy class), accommodation, meals, and health insurance. In addition, a weekly allowance of 150 euros (before tax) will be provided.

Who Can Apply

• Applicants must have a minimum of two years’ experience in teaching or work with recognized international institutions.
• Open to both junior and senior university staff or researchers affiliated with institutions focused on development studies in developing countries.
• Only candidates intending to engage in short-term research collaboration are eligible.
• Candidates currently pursuing PhD or postgraduate studies at an Italian university are not eligible.

Evaluation Guidelines
Applications will be assessed based on:

• The significance and alignment of the research proposal with ongoing work at the University of Pavia.
• The applicant’s academic qualifications and professional experience.
• Equitable distribution of grants by discipline and applicant nationality.

Application Process
Required documents include:

• A comprehensive CV (preferably in European format) listing publications, named as: Surname_Name_CV
• A letter of invitation from a University of Pavia professor who agrees to supervise the research, named as: Surname_Name_Letter

Ensure all documents are uploaded and correctly labelled before submitting your application. Applications lacking these documents or submitted without prior acceptance from a University of Pavia professor will not be reviewed.
