Since 2011, the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at EARTH University has provided educational opportunities to young people from disadvantaged communities in Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean. In addition to providing scholarships for young leaders, the Program at EARTH integrates services such as mentoring, career counselling, service-learning opportunities, and internships. Following the successful completion of EARTH University’s four-year program, the majority of Mastercard Foundation Scholars return to their countries as part of a growing movement of leaders committed to transforming global food systems and contributing to sustainable livelihoods across the continent.
Steps to follow when applying
1. Starting the process
Fill out the online form at the bottom of this page with your information, so that later, a username and a password will be enabled on our platform and you can start with your application. By filling in this information, you will be in contact with an Admissions Officer who will guide you through the steps to follow www.earth.ac.cr/apply. If you do not receive this email after 2 days, please do not fill out the form again, as it will duplicate your request, so it will take longer for us to respond. First, check your spam folder or promotions email; if you have not received it, please contact us by clicking on contact us.
2. Knowing your profile
Go to apply.earth.ac.cr with your email and the password we sent you in the first email (subject of the email: EARTH UNIVERSITY INFORMATION) to complete and send the information requested in the form (you must enter your personal information, answer some questions and attach the admissions requirements).
3. Knowing your academic and personal skills
Three faculty members will evaluate your profile based on the documents you provided previously and will decide if you continue in the process. Due to the high volume of applications we receive and need to review, this notification might take up to 2 months. If you are selected to continue with the process, you will receive an email notifying you of your aptitude test and a psychometric test. In addition, to advance with the process, you will fill out a socioeconomic form, which will be used in step 5 of the admissions process. To schedule your exam you are required to complete this form.
4. Group and individual interviews
The scores obtained in the admissions test will be evaluated, and if approved, you will continue with the group and individual interview with a member of our faculty. Your Admissions Officer will send you an email with detailed information about the date, time and place of the interview.
5. Family socioeconomic form
Congratulations, you are one step away from being part of the EARTH family! Based on the information you previously submitted (family socioeconomic form), we will schedule a meeting with your family members to verify each item on the form, in order to determine if you apply for any type of financial support. After this meeting, a financial support committee will evaluate all the results of the process (tests, interviews) of all the profiles and will determine which ones are admitted. This step is carried out for certain candidates considered by the Admissions Office.
6. Admission and migration process
You made it! You have been admitted and you will be part of the EARTH´s FUTURE AGENTS OF CHANGE. We are waiting for you in mid-August in the country of ¡Pura vida! We will help with your immigration process and guide you in obtaining your temporary student permit.
