NewSchools GenAI Math Grant 2025 – Up to $300,000 in Funding

Applications are now open for the 2025 NewSchools GenAI Math Grant. This initiative, under the Learning Solutions investment area of NewSchools Venture Fund, supports the development of advanced generative AI tools specifically designed to enhance math tutoring. Chosen ventures will receive funding of up to $300,000, along with technical guidance, product development input, and research support.

While generative AI holds great potential to transform math education, challenges remain around accuracy, cost, and instructional alignment. The grant aims to fuel innovation using foundation models that are refined for math-specific applications, offering scalable and effective solutions for personalized learning.

Who Can Apply: Eligible applicants include for-profit companies, nonprofit organizations, and academic institutions working on new generative AI tutoring tools tailored for math education. Proposals should:

• Deliver one-on-one or small group math tutoring tailored to individual student needs
• Use evidence-based instructional methods in line with local curriculum standards
• Utilize or explore foundation models trained for math-specific use cases (e.g., Phi-3, LearnLM, Llama 3.2, Claude 3)
• Be ready for classroom pilot testing in U.S. K-12 schools by early 2026
• Agree to participate in an independent research study

Both new projects and existing tutoring programs that are exploring specialized AI integration are encouraged to apply.
