Applications are now open for the prestigious Government of Ireland International Education Scholarships (GOI-IES) 2025. This program, funded by the Government of Ireland in partnership with Irish higher education institutions (HEIs) and managed by the Higher Education Authority (HEA), supports outstanding international students who aspire to study at NFQ levels 9 or 10 in Ireland.
The initiative awards 60 scholarships annually for one year of full-time study in master’s, postgraduate diploma, or PhD programs.
Scholarship Details
Recipients of the GOI-IES scholarship will receive:
- A stipend of €10,000 for one academic year.
- A full tuition fee waiver from their host higher education institution.
Scholarship holders are expected to commence their studies in September or October 2025 at their selected Irish institution.
Eligibility Requirements
- Residency:
Applicants must be domiciled outside the EU/EEA, Switzerland, and the UK. - Program Application:
Applicants must first apply for admission to a relevant master’s, postgraduate diploma, or PhD program at an eligible Irish HEI. - Admission Offer:
At the time of application, candidates must possess a conditional or final offer of admission and include it with their scholarship application. - Scholarship History:
Previous GOI-IES scholarship recipients are not eligible to apply. - Special Restrictions:
Due to ongoing geopolitical concerns, Russian and Belarussian nationals are not eligible for this scholarship.
Evaluation Criteria
Applicants will be assessed on:
- Academic Achievement: Outstanding academic records.
- Communication Skills: Proficiency in articulating their goals and ideas.
- Extracurricular Activities: Contributions in areas such as humanitarian efforts, arts, sports, or community service.
- Future Aspirations: A clear rationale for pursuing studies in Ireland and alignment with long-term goals.
