Deadline: June 6, 2024
The Bates Philanthropic Initiative (BPI) is committed to making a positive impact on our community by ensuring that Colorado’s graduating high school students have access to quality education and career opportunities, with a particular focus on career and technical education (CTE). Our vision is to create a world where everyone has access to education that is linked to skills-based career opportunities. We seek to create a world where no one falls between the cracks and everyone has the knowledge and skills that enable them to thrive. We have established a scholarship program to assist graduating high school seniors within Boulder County, Colorado who plan to enrol full-time at a two-year community college or vocational-occupational trade school/technical college within the state of Colorado.
The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.
Applicants to the Bates Scholarship for the Advancement of Career and Technical Education must:

- Plan to enrol full-time at a two-year community college or vocational-occupational trade school/technical college within the state of Colorado for the entire upcoming academic year or the length of the selected certification program
- Pursuing a certification* or associate degree in healthcare, engineering, and advanced manufacturing
*Certification programs must be through an accredited institution and must run on a standard academic semester calendar. Certification programs must be a minimum of one semester/term in length and recipients must be enrolled at the time awards are disbursed. Prerequisite courses are ineligible.

Payments will be made payable to the institution where the student is enrolled and mailed to the recipient’s home address. Up to six awards will be granted. Awards are not renewable, but students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.
