World Bank Legal Internship Program – Fall 2025 Application Open

The Legal Vice Presidency of the World Bank is inviting law students to apply for its Fall 2025 Internship Program. This initiative offers participants the chance to understand the legal operations of the World Bank and engage directly with its Legal Vice Presidency. The program seeks to bring in fresh insights, innovative thinking, and current academic knowledge to support the institution’s daily legal functions.

Interns will gain practical experience through collaboration with legal professionals and senior staff, contributing to legal matters and participating in important events and forums held during their internship term.

Internships last for up to three months and are available three times a year. Placements are primarily at the World Bank’s headquarters in Washington, D.C., with select opportunities in country offices. The program is open to current law students enrolled in full-time or part-time academic programs.

Program Benefits

This internship offers valuable hands-on experience for law students seeking professional development. It can also serve as an externship during the academic year for students enrolled in full-time or evening classes. According to U.S. Homeland Security guidelines, participants approved for pre-completion OPT may work part-time while school is in session.

Eligibility Criteria

• You must be a national of an IBRD member country.
• You should be pursuing a legal degree (LLB, JD, LLM, SJD, PhD, or equivalent) at the time of your internship.
• Proficiency in English is essential.
• Additional consideration is given to applicants with knowledge of a second IBRD working language, such as Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish.
• The program is open to both U.S. and international students who meet the requirements.
