If you are a high school graduate seeking a fully funded scholarship to study in China, the Shanghai Government Scholarship (SGS) 2025 at East China Normal University (ECNU) is now accepting applications for full-time undergraduate students. This scholarship provides exceptional international students with the opportunity to pursue higher education at one of China’s top universities. However, some programs are not covered, so applicants must review the eligibility criteria carefully.
Eligible Programs
The Shanghai Government Scholarship 2025 at ECNU applies to full-time undergraduate degree programs, except:
- 2+2 or 1+3 joint degree programs
- English-taught undergraduate programs
- BA programs under the School of International Chinese Studies
All other undergraduate programs conducted in Chinese are eligible.
Who Can Apply?
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Non-Chinese citizens in good health
- Strong academic and disciplinary record
- Age limit:
- Pre-college program: Under 23 years old with a high school diploma
- Undergraduate program: Under 25 years old with a high school diploma
Language Proficiency Requirements
- Applicants must fulfill the Chinese language proficiency requirements of their chosen major.
- Candidates with HSK Level 3 can apply for a one-year pre-college program with full scholarship coverage. If they do not meet major requirements after this program, they will be enrolled as Chinese language students.
Scholarship Coverage
There are two categories of funding under this scholarship:
Type A – Full Scholarship
- Tuition fully covered
- Free on-campus accommodation (shared double room) or RMB 700/month off-campus allowance
- Monthly living stipend: RMB 2,500
- Comprehensive medical insurance: RMB 800 per year
Type B – Partial Scholarship
- Tuition fee coverage
- Medical insurance: RMB 800 per year
