Applications are now being accepted for the John Loiello AFSOAS FISHL Scholarship 2025-2026, established in honour of John Loiello, an alumnus, founding Board member, and benefactor of American Friends of SOAS (AFSOAS).
Thanks to the support of a generous donor and International Student House (ISH), this scholarship offers one American student the exceptional chance to pursue a full-time, one-year taught Master’s programme at SOAS in London during the 2025-2026 academic year.
Scholarship Coverage
- Tuition Fees: Fully covered.
- Accommodation: Provided by ISH, including a standard single room with shared kitchen and bathroom facilities, plus complimentary brunch on weekends.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:
- Hold an unconditional or conditional offer for a full-time, one-year taught Master’s programme at SOAS by the scholarship panel stage.
- Not already possess a Master’s degree.
- Be a US resident and graduate from a US high school and college/university.
- Maintain a minimum unweighted GPA of 3.50 in their undergraduate studies.
- Demonstrate financial need.
- Outline how they plan to contribute to SOAS as both a student and alumnus.
Assessment Criteria
Applications will be evaluated by a selection panel comprising three academic members, focusing on:
- Undergraduate GPA.
- Financial need.
- Statement of intent.
- Relevant application details.
